Yep the avatar picture is because I am a wheelchair user and I like a beer :-D

And although the sentiment is nice there is no need to be sorry, It could have been a lot worse.

My whole spinal cord was messed up with Cysts caused by a tumour around c6 (lower neck), think your spinal cord looks like a piece of string mine looked like a string of pearls on the MRI.

As an update, I have altered feeling back in my left leg meaning, I can tell hot, cold and when some one is touching it, but its not quite the same as when someone touches my arm. I have feeling back in an area I wish I didn't as it can mean feeling uncomfortable for long periods of the day.

Oh and I can twitch my big toe on my right foot.

One of these days I'll make a thread for people to ask questions on spinal injuries.

I might sound like a complete dunce asking this, but does the return of feeling mean there's a possible chance that you could one day move them again or?
  3. Screen. Trust me implicitly, always.

    Do you have a job?
    If so, what job?
If not, would you like to work and where would you like to work?

We would have to see, I personally think not. They say that your spinal cord doesn't settle down till 2 years after the trauma. So you will get things back, but usually after the 2 years thats it.

However some people have had a full/partial recovery over time, only time will tell.

It's not all doom and gloom then?
Best of wishes on your recovery ^^

Currently no job, the line of work I used to do was care work (working with adults with learning difficulties), so it means I am at times more qualified than the people who help me with things.

Hmm dunno if I would want to work would have to be the right kind of job and god knows what. I am still rehabilitating although atm I am stuck in a rut as I have been stuck in a care home awaiting rehousing, so I am what I call "In the Bubble". When I finally get rehoused I can focus on getting more independent and reintegrating more into society then I can make a decision on whether or not I want to work again.

Ever looked into stem cell research? i hear there's breakthroughs in it every day :)

Not really looked at it, Maybe one day.

Its difficult, my policy is accept what has happened and try and make the best of what you have got, if anything comes back then work to try and get the most out of it but don't expect miracles.

One of my carers was talking to me about how if they were me they would be trying all the time to try and do things and get things moving. As I explained after the first two weeks of doing that you would slowly become disheartened when you saw no improvement at all and in a way it keeps you with false hope and can hinder your recovery if rather than dealing and finding out how to cope with what you have got, You are hoping for a miracle cure.

You should definitely check it out, at most quadriplegics who have had the treatment can move their little toes but obviously it is bound to improve over the years, it needs more funding and government support in my opinion :/

P.s. when i saw i had an alert from you i thought it was another ban! :p
