[Help] Getting data from the internet (C++ Win32 API)

Tryst They don't allow you to have bees in here...

So I want to add some sort of version checker to my TsrPR bot. Diamondo's DPS uses a HttpWebRequest function, which is a .NET function; I was wondering if there's a simple way of achieving the same with Win32 API (non-MFC).

I had a look at libcurl, but I get a missing MSVRC90.dll error when compiling with that - and I don't especially want users of my bot to have the same error.

What I ultimately want to do is have a really light weight function in the bot to pull information from a URL and then display that text in a message on the bot.

    Any suggestions? :x

MSDN doesn't give any examples on how to use this to read an online file.
